The Ponta Lopud Festival announces the results of the competition that was launched on March 21, 2023, in cooperation with the Lopud Foundation Artist Retreat program. The program aims to support the continued professional development of regional film professionals, who are also former Ponta Lopud participants.

As part of the Lopud Foundation Artist Retreat, selected participants will be given a unique opportunity to fully devote themselves to their new film projects on the serene and inspiring island of Lopud.

Serbian director Ognjen Glavonić, a participant in the first edition of the Ponta Lopud Festival in 2021, has been selected to be the first artist to stay at the retreat on Lopud for four weeks (in the autumn of 2023), where he will further develop his new feature film. A three-member selection committee from the film industry has chosen director Ognjen Glavonić based on the quality of his new project – IN THE SHADOWS OF THE HORNS. The project has also been supported by the Film Center of Serbia, one of the partners of the Ponta Lopud Festival.

IN THE SHADOWS OF THE HORNS – synopsis

Vuk (17), a high school student and a metalhead from a small village in Banat, is trying to record an album with his black metal band and maintain a shaky friendship with his best friend Igor. Faced with a number of adventures and problems, they learn together how to deal with rage, doubts and fears as well as the prejudices and condemnations of their environment, a community hiding deep secrets.

The competition for participation at the Lopud Foundation Artist Retreat is announced twice a year. The next competition will be announced during the Ponta Lopud Festival 2023 (June 20-24, 2023).
