The Ponta Lopud Film Festival launches a competition within the Lopud Foundation Artist Retreat program
The Ponta Lopud is launching a new annual residence program for artists on Lopud, as part of the Lopud Foundation Artist Retreat, which aims to further support professional development of its participants.
The program is based on work on a project (a script for a feature film), and the invitation to apply is extended to all participants of previous editions of the Ponta Lopud Festival.
The selected project for Lopud Artist Retreat will have a chance to be presented at the upcoming CineLink Co-Production Market during the Sarajevo Film Festival.
Lopud Foundation Artist Retreat
“The Lopud Artist Retreat is for creative people to focus on their work in the quietness and beauty of this inspiring island while being housed in a collection of carefully restored 15th and 16th-century buildings. The invited guests range from writers, directors, producers, musicians, composers, painters, sculptors and artists in the visual arts. There are two retreats each year. One in the spring and one in the autumn, for four weeks each. Currently, four artists will be invited to each retreat. Each retreat will have either a Croatian or someone from the region as guests.
The retreat is privileged to host Ponta Lopud participants. Also, we are excited to work with the Ponta Lopud Festival to ensure that an artist on each retreat may be an alumnus from the Ponta Lopud workshop.“

Who can apply for the Lopud Foundation Artist Retreat
Eligible participants for the retreat are participants of the Ponta Lopud Festival 2021 and 2022 who are actively working on their projects. Priority will be given to projects that have already obtained funding from film foundations. Through daily work on the project in a serene and inspiring setting, the user of the retreat will be given the opportunity to fully devote him/herself to work on his/her projects.

The results of the selection by the Lopud Foundation Artist Retreat
The final selection for the artist retreat program will be made based on the assessment of the quality of the project the applicants are working on (a script for a feature film) and the applicant’s motivation. A three-person selection committee from the film industry will review the applications, and the results will be announced by the end of May 2023.
The format of the Lopud Foundation Artist Retreat
Participants will have four weeks available to work on their project, from September 16 to October 14, 2023.
Lopud Foundation Artist Retreat (LFAR) covers all travel, food and accommodation expenses. Foundation provides allowance for 4 weeks stay at Lopud.
Accommodation is provided in a comfortable villa on the hill above the Lopud port, and photos can be found in the attachment to the Lopud Foundation Artist Retreat program.
In accordance with the LFAR’s objective, according to which users should be fully focused on working on their projects, private visits are not permitted.
